    Weekly green blog round-up

From across cyberspace, some green blog posts of note for the week ending February 9nd, 2008.

Don’t mess with the air quality in Texas. A green group in Dallas has teamed up with its former enemy, an international cement corporation, to pump millions into fighting smog, says a dispatch in About My Planet.

Wonder what a suddenly peopleless planet would be like? The Good Human reviews Alan Weisman’s The World Without Us.

Sustainablog reviews new lending guidelines set up by JP Morgan, Citigroup and Morgan Stanley (where’s HSBC?).  Apparently these banks will start to consider the “carbon principle” of their loans.

Really Natural has a really interesting post to fire up the left-libertarians out there.  A fellow in San Carlos was so committed to living with zero-waste, he didn’t need the city’s waste removal anymore.  But when he canceled his trash service, the city sued him.

Treehugger reports that a 1000 year-old English castle has been decked out with solar panels.

The Carbon Fund wants you to have a carbon-free Valentine’s Day.

The Angry Toxicologist reviews new government animal testing guidelines.  Big Pharma and the environment might both win.

And finally, some sad news.  Ecorazzi is reporting that a live-action Captain Planet movie was just a rumor.
