World Habitat Day is Monday, October 5th, in Washington, D.C. Why is this day important to take notice of?
In the U.S., according to the National Low Income Housing Coalition, an estimated 95 million people, one third of the nation, have housing problems including a high-cost burden, overcrowding, poor quality shelter and homelessness.
Globally, according to UN HABITAT findings, one out of every three city dwellers, nearly a billion people, lives in slums - places that lack water, sanitation, are overcrowded, made of non-durable structures and insecure tenure. (more…)
