A Renewable Stimulus Package

Next week, Congress and the President can choose action. By extending the current production tax credits (PTC) for renewable energy into 2009, the stimulus package will help create green jobs here at home.
The PTC enables companies to realize a tax credit of 2 cents per kilowatt-hour of electricity generated by wind and solar. Of course, the wind and solar industries have applauded the move to generate jobs and clean energy.
It’s important that we call our Senators and tell them to include PTCs in the stimulus package. Opposition is lined-up against the proposal because it would increase the cost of the stimulus package Speaker Pelosi and the President already worked out. Getting
Renewable Energy Access has relayed that the motion has been temporarily suspended due to Super Tuesday action. When Sen. Hillary Clinton (D-NY), Sen. Barack Obama (D-IL) and Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) get back from the campaign trail, this is the perfect opportunity to prove they are serious about tackling climate change.
